Rejuvenate, Wind
Down and Restart
What makes you happy? Really, think about it for a moment. What do you
enjoy doing when you’re not working or being a mom or wife or
attending to all of your responsibilities? For many of us who’ve
been bit by the scrapbooking bug, the answer is: “Scrapbooking
makes me happy.” Scrapbooking is a feel good, therapeutic experience.
It’s a bonding experience. It allows us to take some much needed
“ME” time and focus our energies on ourselves. As women,
scrapbooking helps us rejuvenate. It helps us wind down. It helps us
restart. That’s what I love about this hobby. It makes a difference
in our lives on so many levels. If you haven’t had a chance to
sit down and scrapbook lately, I encourage you to make some time. Come
to a Friday night Moonlight Crop (still just $12) or drop in and crop
during the day while the kiddos are in school (it’s free!) You
will find your stress level is more manageable, your smile is brighter
and your outlook on life a bit better.
Awhile back, we put a call out for submissions for a contest called
Why I Scrapbook? We received several entries but none as poignant as
this one. This delightful young mom wrote this just weeks before being
diagnosed with breast cancer. She has amazed me and fellow scrapbookers
as she continues to work on her books through her treatments.
Why I Scrapbook
To share with ANYONE that will listen the joy of raising girls.
To let my friends know the gratitude I feel
that they have shared their lives with me.
To let my husband know the happiness that
I feel as we share this ride through life.
To remember and share my feelings and thoughts
about other people.
To relive the thrill of secret crushes, wild
dreams, and daring acts.
To write down the thoughts that inspire me
and the memories that pictures evoke.
To use up all the scrapbook supplies in my
closet.
To narrate the story of my life, and the
lives of other people, from my perspective.
-Patricia Ramirez
Most importantly, I scrapbook to capture a little piece of me on
paper in hopes that someone, someday in the future, after I’ve
died, will find my life interesting and, for that moment, I live again.
-Patricia Ramirez
Scrapbooking can help heal. Scrapbooking can help you appreciate
life more. I’m honored to share in this adventure with you.

Survivor Crop Sign Ups Begin May 5th!
Outscrap…Outlast.….Outraise
Be cast away on your own island at the 6th Annual Survivor Crop coming
this fall. Mark your calendars, call a scrappin’ buddy, challenge
yourself to do something completely different. Survivor Crop is a 24-hour
scrapbook marathon that focuses on breast cancer awareness and research.
Over the last five years, we’ve raised $163,000 for the San Diego
affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. That’s pretty amazing!
See what happens when 200 avid scrapbookers get together with one common
purpose: to raise awareness and funds for such a vital cause.
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 20-21, 2007
Where: 10,000 square feet of cropping space in Oceanside,
4.5 miles from Ever After
How: Log on to www.scrapbooks.info to register yourself.
You choose your island and your friends can sign up to sit with you! You
may pay with credit card via paypal or send a check to Ever After Scrapbooks.
Cost: Event fee is $105, includes two breakfasts, lunch
and dinner, logo’d t-shirt, lots of prizes, and 24 hours of scrapbooking
in a huge space!
Special Note: Each participant is responsible for collecting
a minimum donation total of $100 made payable to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Just think: If 200 people collect $100, that’s $20,000! Don’t
worry about fundraising…we’ll offer lots of helps along the
way. In fact, we introduced a new concept this year. It’s called
The $500 Club. Each participant is challenged to raise $100 each month
(May through September) and there will be a really cool reward for doing
so. Of course, the person who raises the most money at the event is heralded
as The Ultimate Survivor and that person wins a grand prize valued at
over $500. Each individual island wins prizes based on total donations
as well. Event details are posted on the Survivor Crop website. www.scrapbooks.info
